Fastpitch News NJCAA DI 2016 Pitcher of the Year

Courtney-GettinsCourtney Gettins (39-6)
Florida Southwestern State
Freshman

Gettins was outstanding and was the number one reason the Buccaneers made a run to the NJCAA National Championship. She literally pitched every inning in conference play, all but one game in the regional and every inning of the national tournament including a very difficult 15 inning loss to eventual champion Butler. On the season she posted a 1.49 ERA with 284 strikeouts over 296.1 inning. That is a ton of innings on a young arm. Gettins held opponents just 63 earned-runs. Time and again she would pitch the Buccaneers out of jams as FSW struggled on the defensive side of the ball. She has a great drop and curve ball with excellent placement. She is also a member of the New Zealand national team. Keep your eye on here as she has a very bright future.

Fastpitch News NJCAA DI 2016 Offensive Player of the Year

Rylee-BaylessRylee Bayless (3B)
Northeastern Oklahoma A&M
Sophomore

Bayless was the best hitter in the country and it was not close. She carries an amazing slash line of .621/.703/1.163 with 23 home runs. Those numbers are staggering and on top of that she walked 55 times opposed to just seven strikeouts. She will be playing at Oklahoma State next year and should have an immediate impact at the plate for the Cowboys. She is also an exceptional fielder. She was the 2015 NJCAA player of the year also.
