Alison Owen Hired To Be Pitching Coach at Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech’s Head Coach Aileen Morales announced on Monday that she hiring Alison Owen to the Yellow Jackets coaching staff to handle the pitching staff.

Owen had a great two-year run setting many pitching records at Mississippi State (2013-2014) helping take Mississippi State to the NCAA Tournament in both of her seasons. Owen started her college career in the state of Georgia pitching with the Yellow Jackets in state rival pitching for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2010-2011.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be in my home state with the Georgia Tech softball program,” said Owen in Georgia Tech Press Release. “I truly believe this year and the years to come will be special under Coach Morales’ leadership. Being a Georgia Tech alumnus, she has high expectations for the program and will push to attain those expectations.”

Following her college career, Owen played and coached with the Akron Racers in the National Pro Fast Pitch League from 2014-2016. Owen also coached at   East Mississippi Community College.

Owen completes Morales staff as Morales hired Reese Mariconda last month coming over from Fordham where Mariconda spent the last five seasons.

Morales who played at Georgia Tech (2005-2008) and was with the program as an assistant under Sharon Perkins from 2009-2013 was hired as the program’s sixth head coach back on June 7.

Georgia Tech will be the host for the 2018 ACC Softball Tournament Championship from May 9-12.
