JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Sophomore Victoria Brown earned her first career Pitcher of the Week honor, the Atlantic Sun Conference announced on Monday, Feb. 10.

Brown (2-0) opened the 2014 season with two shutouts and came in for relief during the three-day Felsberg Memorial Tournament at FIU in Miami (Feb. 7-9).

First, Brown pitched a complete five-inning game in Jacksonville’s 12-0 mercy-rule demolition of Big East preseason favorite DePaul on Feb. 7. She fanned three and held the Blue Demons to just six hits. In JU’s 6-2 win over Maryland on Feb. 8, she came in for relief and grabbed four strikeouts. Lastly, during JU’s final game of the tournament on Sunday against Maryland, Brown secured her second win in the complete game, fanning three, allowing only two hits and tossing 50 strikes of 74 pitches.

Brown also contributed largely at the plate in all five games. She averaged .375, finished 6-for-16, earned five runs, one double, tallied six RBI and blasted three home runs, including the solo shot to center that lifted Jacksonville over Maryland, 1-0.
