BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University head softball coach Joan Joyce has announced that former Fordham standout Elise Fortier has joined the staff as a volunteer assistant.

“We’re thrilled to have Elise join the staff,” Coach Joyce said. “She was an elite player and I have no doubt that her passion and drive will carry over as she begins her coaching career.”

Fortier was a member of the Rams’ softball team for three years, where she was a three-time All-Atlantic 10 selection. As a senior, she put together the finest season in Fordham softball history, shattering the school’s single-season RBI (73) and slugging percentage (.854) records while tying her own mark with 20 home runs. She also broke the school career homerun record in only three seasons of play. Her efforts earned Fortier the A-10 and ECAC Player of the Year awards in addition to A-10 All-Tournament and NCAA Tallahassee All-Regional honors. Prior to Fordham, Fortier played her first collegiate season at Stonybrook, where she was a three-time America East Rookie of the Week.

She spent two summer seasons in a Stratford Brakette jersey under former FAU assistant Johnny Stratton. She is among Brakette leaders in single season home runs and RBIs.

Fortier graduated in 2014 with a degree in communications.
