FPN College Softball: Inside the Numbers Week 2 2017

Inside the Numbers

Inside the numbers is a weekly feature looking at the overall statistics in NCAA College Softball. Each week our staff will look at the stats and point out some of the things that stand out.

Bring’em Home

One that drives coaches, players, and fans crazy is leaving runners on base. These five players lead the country in RBI. Alyssa DiCarlo (Georgia) currently leads the nation in RBI with 23. DiCarlo has been on fire to start the season with a .531 average, seven home runs, and a 1.281 slugging percentage. Those seven home runs also tie her for the national lead in that category.  The person she is tied with in home runs is Shelby Miller (Houston) who has 19 RBI on the season. Right behind Miller with 18 is Meghan Gregg (Tennessee). Gregg is also batting an amazing .607 through the Volunteers first 10 games. Freshman Alyssa Palomino (Arizona) is tied with Gregg at 18. On the season she has hit four doubles, one triple, and three home runs.  also tied at 18 RBI is Nicole Schroeder (Arkansas). Schroeder is among the national leaders in numerous offensive categories. She carries a .550 batting average, has six home runs and a 1.700 slugging percentage.

Bombs Away

A home run can change the landscape of a game in a hurry. These five teams are the ones to fear after two weeks. First up is Arkansas.
