FPN NCAA DI National Softball Players of the Week 3-14-2017

Fastpitch News has released its January 30, 2017, Players of the week awards for the NJCAA. This is the first week of the awards. Moving forward we do except weekly nominations. Player of the Week

Sydney O'Hara

Syracuse

Sydney O’Hara tied a NCAA single-game record with four home runs in Syracuse’s 11-5 victory over NC State. The senior had four at-bats, four hits (four home runs), and eight RBI on the game. O’Hara is 1-of-5 NCAA Division I players in history to tally four home runs in a single game, and the only this season. She went on to hit .700 on the weekend with a total of five home runs, seven hits, nine RBI and five runs. Her batting average for the season is now .500.

She also threw 11 strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched over the weekend.

Chloe Miller (Wisconsin): The Bettendorf, Iowa, native had an explosive tournament, posting a .800 batting average, .842 on base percentage and 1.800 slugging percentage. She hit three home runs, one on each day of the tournament. She also knocked in four doubles and one triple. Miller accumulated a total of 14 RBI on the weekend along with 11 runs and 12 hits in just 15 at bats. She had four RBI in three separate games. Additionally, she did not strike out once and was walked four times.

Jordan Seneca (Saint Francis): Seneca hit three home runs and had 11 RBI in Saint Francis’s five games at the Liberty Classic, helping the Red Flash to a 5-0 record. In the process, she broke the school’s all-time career home run record with her 31st, a grand slam to break a 2-2 tie with Liberty. She recorded a .550 on-base percentage for the week and scored nine runs.

Pitcher of the Week

Megan Good

James Madison

Megan Good earned three victories to improve to 14-0 on the season. Over 18.0 innings, Good allowed one run off seven hits and two walks while fanning 23 batters to hold opponents to a .117 average. Her scoreless inning streak came to a close after an astonishing 70.1 consecutive innings. Good leads the country with nine shutouts while ranking second in ERA (0.23), hits allowed per seven innings (2.33) and victories and fourth in strikeouts (126).

Holly McKinnon (USC Upstate): McKinnon picked up all four victories for the Spartans at USF Under Armour Showcase. She combined to pitch 21.2 innings, allowing only two earned runs all weekend (0.65 ERA) and finished with 22 strikeouts and allowed opponents to hit only .155 last week.

Shannon Saile (FIU): Saile picked up victories in each of her four appearances last week. The freshman made three starts, including a one-hit shutout of Fairfield on Saturday. She is now one out away from tossing nine straight shutout innings, allowing just one hit over that span. Her 105 strikeouts in 2017 are already the most by a Panther pitcher in the last three seasons.
