Following her stellar performance at the USF Wilson-DeMarini Tournament, Gator Softball junior Lauren Haeger (Peoria, Ariz.) was named SEC Pitcher of the Week, announced Monday (Feb. 10) by the conference office.
Haeger went 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA (2 ER / 13.0 IP) and 18 strikeouts in UF’s wins over Illinois State and Wisconsin. In Sunday’s 5-1 win against the Badgers, the junior pitched her first career no-hitter. Recording 11 strikeouts to tie her career-high, Haeger allowed one unearned run to mark the 11th time in her career she has worked 4+ innings (or 3+ in a five-inning win) without allowing an earned run.
Haeger and the Gators are back in action Wednesday (Feb. 12), when they host Jacksonville University at 6 p.m. in UF’s 2014 home opener. GatorVision will carry live video, while ESPN 850 will provide radio coverage. In addition, fans can find live stats on GatorZone.com.
