HBU Softball’s Rebecca Rademacher and Team Honored by the NCAA

By: Mary Ellen Leisering, Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations – Houston Baptist University

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – HBU senior outfielder Rebecca Rademacher was named the 2013 NCAA statistical champion for sacrifice hits in a game, the NCAA announced. The HBU softball team was also recognized by the NCAA for triples per game.

As a junior last season in the Huskies’ first season in the Southland Conference, Rademacher had 18 sacrifice hits, as she hit .253 with 22 hits, one double, one triple, and seven RBI in 32 games.

The Huskies had 18 triples last season, thanks in part to Lauren Schwirtlich’s seven. The 18 triples were just ten shy of the program record of 28 in a single season, set by the 2000 team. The 18 triples were the most since the 2009 Husky squad had 11 three baggers.
