Lamar softball has busy October slate

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University softball team hopes Mother Nature is a little more cooperative in October than she was in September.

After seeing most of their September schedule washed away, the Cardinals are slated to play a number of games in October to wrap up their fall exhibition schedule, including four home games at Ford Park.

The Cardinals open the month this Saturday with three games at the LSU Tournament, facing LSU-Eunice, Belhaven and the host Tigers.

Lamar’s first October home game is set for 1 p.m. Oct. 12 against Alvin Community College. The Cardinals host San Jacinto Community College at 6 p.m. Oct. 17, Galveston Community College at 2 p.m. Oct. 18 and Lamar State College-Port Arthur at 2 p.m. Oct. 20.

The Cardinals are at Louisiana-Lafayette on Oct. 13.

Admission to all of Lamar’s fall home games is free. The Cardinals were 24-35 last season, their first season of softball since 1987. The Cardinals finished in fifth place in the Southland Conference with a 14-13 record.

The spring schedule will be announced in the near future.
