BATON ROUGE – The LSU softball team released its 2013 fall schedule which includes a Sept. 30 exhibition contest against the 2013 National Pro Fastpitch [NPF] champion USSSA Florida Pride announced Tuesday by head coach Beth Torina. Admission to all eight fall contests is free at Tiger Park.
“We are looking forward to this season’s fall schedule,” Torina said. “We will have plenty of opportunities against some quality opponents to see our team in action. It is a great chance for them to work on many things that will help make our team more successful this spring. We looking forward to hosting a great fall schedule.”
The meeting with the Pride marks the third straight season that LSU will host an NPF team during the fall season. The Tigers played host to the NPF’s “Back to School” tour in 2011 and 2012. Former two-time NFCA All-American Rachele Fico will pitch for the NPF team against LSU. The Pride roster also consists of 2012 NPF Rookie of the Year recipient and former Georgia standout Kristyn Sandberg, who is currently a manager for the LSU program. A complete roster for the Pride will be released closer to the event.
LSU takes on Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, LSU-Eunice and Nicholls State during its two-day fall tournament on Oct. 5-6. The Tigers also meet LSU-Eunice (Oct. 19) before taking on McNeese State (Oct. 23) for a doubleheader to conclude the fall campaign.
At this time, LSU is accepting $25 season ticket deposits for new ticket holders that will go towards the full price of a 2014 season ticket online at www.LSUtix.net. The deadline for $25 deposits is Thursday, October 31. Information on current season ticket renewals and single-game tickets will be distributed at a later date by the LSU Ticket Office.
LSU finished its second season under Torina with the program’s 15th 40-win season since softball was reinstated in 1997. The Tigers return 14 letterwinners sparked by A.J. Andrews, an NFCA All-America Third-Team and All-SEC First-Team selection, along with Bianka Bell and Jacee Blades, a pair of 2013 All-SEC Second-Team picks.
