Tennessee Softball: Nine Lady Vols Named 2012-13 NFCA Division I Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –The Tennessee softball team was named a 2012-13 NFCA Division I All-Academic Team and nine Lady Vols were named NFCA Division I Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the NFCA on Monday.

Melissa Brown, Jennifer Burroughs, Raven Chavanne, Erin Gabriel, Whitney Hammond, Tory Lewis, Anna Renfroe, Ellen Renfroe and Ivy Renfroe were all named NFCA Division I Scholar-Athletes in recognition for having GPAs of 3.50 or higher during the 2012-13 academic year.

UT’s nine NFCA Division I Scholar-Athletes were the most for any of the eight teams who participated in the 2013 Women’s College World Series. In total, over 4,000 softball student-athletes from across seven different divisions earned the distinction of Scholar-Athlete.

Tennessee boasted a 3.23 team GPA and was recognized as a 2013 NFCA Division I All-Academic Team. The Lady Vols’ 3.23 team GPA also was the highest of any 2013 Women’s College World Series team.
