Troy Softball Open Fall Season

By: Joe St. Pierre, Graduate Assistant – Media Relations – Troy University

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University softball team is set to open up its fall season, beginning on Wednesday against Lurleen B. Wallace at 5 p.m., at the Troy SportsPlex.

The fall season consists of eight games, spread over the following month, as the Trojans look to solidify their lineup heading into the 2014 season. The Trojans bring in several newcomers to go with the 13 returning letter-winners from a season ago.

Troy will play eight games this fall, including four 10-inning tilts. The Trojans will play two double-headers, on Friday, October 4, and Friday, October 11. Both double-headers will begin at 3:30 p.m.

All fall games will take place at the Troy Sportsplex, as construction on the new softball facility is currently underway. The $3 million facility upgrade will lower the field and the dugouts, replace the outfield with artificial grass and add an 8000-square foot training facility that will house the locker rooms, player lounge, batting cages and training room. The upgrade is expected to be opened in the spring of 2014.
