The Denver area will be overtaken by softball teams from all around the nation this week. Over 800 teams will play over 3,000 games on 130 plus different fields. Ages range from 12U-18U. Also College coaches from around the country will be on the hunt for their next big star. There will be showcases and All-Star games as well. This event is put on by Triple Crown Sports and has grown into the biggest youth softball event in the country.
These events gives teams from all over the country a chance to play against some of the best around in a non “national championship event”. This event is a recruiting dream for college coaches. There are so many players to see and evaluate. So on the flip side it could also be a nightmare trying to track them all. But this is a chance for College coaches to possibly find that player nobody has seen before or a chance to watch players already on their radar in action. Although the national big hitters such as the OC Batbusters, Beverly Bandits and Texas Glory (just to name a few of the top teams) draw the majority of the attention, you will often see coaches wandering all the different fields on the hunt for that unknown player.
There are numerous All-Star games going on prior to the start of the actual tournaments as well as major showcases. So there is plenty of opportunity for players to be seen, but keep in mind there are a lot of players. Also the event is broken-up. Matter of fact there really are two competing events. The big hitters end up in either Longmont IDT or Boulder IDT. These events are separate from the Triple Crown (TC) events which are the Fireworks and Sparkler tournaments.
