Ogle named all-star catcher at Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship

Rising senior hit .444 with three runs batted in during round-robin segment of tournament.

SURREY, British Columbia – Texas rising senior catcher Mandy Ogle was named to the Women’s International All-Star Team at the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship. The San Antonio, Texas, native played for the California A’s at the tournament for the second-straight summer.

The all-star squad was selected following round-robin play of the tournament. Ogle hit .444 and drove in three runs during that portion of the event. She was the lone member of the A’s to earn a spot on the team.

Ogle’s performance helped the A’s to a 2-3 record in pool play, including an 8-1 victory over Japan, the eventual tournament champion. In the contest against Team Japan, Ogle went one-for-one and was hit by a pitch, driving in three runs. In addition to the hit versus Japan, she also tallied one against Canada (twice), Australia and Team USA.

As a junior at Texas, Ogle started 60 of the team’s 61 games at catcher and recorded career highs in runs batted in (41) and home runs (four) while matching her personal bests with 43 hits and 22 runs scored. She was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region Second Team.
