Chicago Bandits Secure Playoff Spot with 4-1 Win over Dallas Charge

Chicago-Bandits

McKinney, TX (August 10, 2016) – Taylor Edwards homered and doubled, driving in three runs to lead the Chicago Bandits over the Dallas Charge 4-1. The Bandits win eliminated any chance for the Charge to reach the postseason NPF Championship Series.

Angel Bunner picked up her first win of the season, throwing five innings and allowing one run on five hits. She struck out three and walked two. Michelle Gascoigne earned the save.

Morgan Melloh started for the Charge and recorded just one out before being lifted. The veteran gave up one run and two hits in the three batters she faced. Jill Compton was saddled with the loss in relief of Melloh. Compton lasted three and one-third innings, allowing three runs on three hits, three walks and three strikeouts.

Edwards started things quickly for the Bandits, homering in the top of the first to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. The Charge evened things up in the bottom of the second on an RBI double off the bat of Kaitlyn Richardson.

Edwards did more damage in the third frame, doubling home Brenna Moss and giving the Bandits the lead back at 2-1.

The Bandits added two more in the fourth on three hits, stretching the lead to 4-1.

The Charge left the bases loaded in the sixth inning, but could not get anything else going against Gascoigne.

Taylor Gadbois and Nadia Taylor each recorded two hits.

The Charge dropped to 17-29. The Bandits clinched the final postseason position, improving to 23-24. The Charge continue their season ending home stand with game three against the Bandits Thursday night followed by a three game series against the last place PA Rebellion in McKinney.
