FPN Video: SEC Tournament Highlights from the second day

Tori Vidales got the first hit of the contest for the Aggies and it also tied the game in the top of the seventh. The solo shot was her fifth home run in three games. Trinity Harrington started the game for the Aggies and pitched 6.2 innings of one-run ball. Payton McBride got the loss when she gave up a home run to Bailey Hemphill in the 10th.

Alabama

Alexis Osorio pitched 10 innings and only gave up two hits and one run in the first game on Thursday. She threw 4.1 innings of perfection against the No. 4 seed Texas A&M Aggies. She allowed a walk to Ashley Walters and kept her no-hit bid intact until the seventh. Her 15 strikeouts set a new SEC Tournament record for most strikeouts in a single game. Bailey Hemphill hit her second home run of the tournament in the tenth innings with a solo shot to center field.

Florida

The No. 1-seeded Florida Gators could only muster two hits and failed to score a run in a 2-0 loss to Ole Miss. Kayli Kvistad and Janelle Wheaton had the only hits for the Gators. Delanie Gourley pitched 5.0 innings, allowing seven hits and two runs. Both runs given up were unearned. Kelly Barnhill pitched two innings of scoreless softball in relief.

Ole Miss

The scrappy Ole Miss Rebels scored two runs in the first against Florida and Kaitlin Lee shutout the top team in the nation.   Lee allowed two hits in seven innings and struck out four. Dylinn Stancil was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Elantra Cox was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Kentucky

Katie Reed and Brooklin Hinz each went 2-for-3 in a 2-0 loss to Auburn. The Wildcats outhit the Tigers but couldn’t capitalize on opportunities. They stranded four runners on base. Erin Rethlake went the distance in the circle for UK. She pitched six innings and gave two earned runs on three hits.

Auburn

Kendall Veach changed the game with one swing of the bat. In the bottom of the sixth Veach took a pitch out to right center for her 12th home run of the year. Kaylee Carlson earned her 26th victory in the circle. She pitched a complete game six-hit shutout.

Tennessee

For the fifth straight year, the host team of the SEC Tournament lost its first game. The Vols also lost their first game of the year when scoring in the first inning. Brooke Vine’s was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Matty Moss and Caylan Arnold both saw action in the circle and both gave up two and four runs.

LSU

The LSU Tigers live to see another day after a 6-2 victory over Tennessee. Bailey Landry was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two doubles and an RBI. Allie Walljasper pitched a complete game in the circle for LSU. In seven innings, she scattered five hits and two runs, one earned.
