Both teams who fell short on Friday night will play for survival in the Loser Bracket on Saturday.

Game 6: Oklahoma Moves on After Defeating Washington

Game two on Friday night at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium began with a dominant pitcher’s duel. Falepolima Aviu drew a lead-off hit by a pitch for the Sooners in the top of the second inning. Nicole Pendley followed up with a line drive single up the middle. The Sooners scored first on a controversial base-running play at the plate on a two-out squeeze bunt.

Washington recorded their first hit of the game in the bottom of the third inning on a bloop hit that dropped in front of Pendley in center field.

This game was all about dominant pitching and full of spectacular defensive plays. In a game where every out matters, both teams gave it their all on both sides of the game.

Aviu continued her consistent season from the plate, in the top of the 5th she lined a gap hit to the outfield with two outs scoring Kelsey Arnold.

Sydney Romero put the Sooners on the board in the top of the 6th inning, leading it off with a solo shot over the left field wall.

Washington’s Ali Aguilar followed up the bottom of the inning with a solo blast of her own over the right field wall.

Paige Parker was spectacular in the circle for the Sooners. The junior tossed 6.1 innings and scattered three hits. Paige Lowary entered the game in a relief role she has grown accustomed to, with one out and a runner on first. Lowary’s first out, and second of the inning, was a looking K followed by a ground ball out to first base to conclude the contest.

Oklahoma after securing the 3-1 victory on Friday night, will move on and play Florida in the Winner’s Bracket final on Sunday. Washington moves to the Loser Bracket and will play in an elimination game on Saturday.
