ACC-Big Ten Softball Challenge Matchups Set for 2017

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conferences announced Thursday the matchups for the 2017 ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge. The annual event, which debuted last season, will feature eight schools from each conference, playing four games each at four campus sites over a three-day period from Feb. 17-19, 2017.

Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue will represent the Big Ten, while ACC members Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and North Carolina State will serve as host sites for this year’s Challenge. The other ACC participants will be Louisville, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech.

Last year, the Big Ten posted a 20-12 record in the inaugural Challenge, with all eight Big Ten schools earning at least one win and Michigan going 4-0 on the weekend.

The Big Ten and ACC offices collaborate to determine the schedule each season. In addition, the official title of the Challenge rotates each year. The 2017 event will be referred to as the ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge and will continue to mirror the official title of the conferences’ Challenge agreements for men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball.

Game times, as well as television and online coverage, will be announced at a later date. The complete schedule of ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge matchups can be found below.
