Amanda Sanchez Goes from Missouri to LSU Tigers

LSU announced on Monday the addition of Amanda Sanchez who is a graduate transfer from Missouri.

Sanchez joins the Tigers after earning SEC All-Defensive team honors in 2018 and set personal career-highs in average (.374), runs scored (31), doubles (10), on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.671).

Sanchez finished fourth among the SEC in on-base percentage, tied for ninth in average (.374) and slugging percentage (.671), and tied for 10th in home runs (12).

“We are thrilled to add a player of her caliber to our team,” said Torina in a press release. “She understands what it takes to compete at the highest level and has had tons of success throughout her career. I know all of the Tiger fans will be excited to see her compete in purple and gold.”

Sanchez earned an extra season of eligibility as a result of suffering a season-ending surgery in March of 2017.

It’s a huge addition for the Tigers as they land arguably the best player this off-season that will end up transferring from one program to another. Sanchez will bring an explosive bat to compliment the other Tiger hitters like Amanda Doyle.  Sanchez hit 35 home runs during her time at Missouri and will join a LSU team that will need to depend on offense a little more in 2019 after losing their two top pitchers to graduation.
