CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Conference play in America East softball hit the midway point for some teams over the weekend and three players who led their teams to series wins are the league’s weekly award winners:
Player of the Week
Bria Green, Jr., Outfielder, Stony Brook
- Hit .417 (5-for-12) with a double and two home runs in five games last week.
- Scored five runs and drove in six.
- Green did most of her damage in Stony Brook’s three-game sweep of Hartford, going 5-for-9 with two homers, six RBI and five runs scored in the series.
Pitcher of the Week
Brittany MacFawn, Sr., Pitcher, Albany
- Posted a 0.91 ERA allowing just three earned runs over 23 2/3 innings while going 2-1 with a save last week.
- Allowed just 13 hits and four walks while striking out 31.
- Fired a two-hit shutout with 10 punchouts in 4-0 win over Maine Saturday.
Rookie of the Week
Bridget Hunt, Fr., Outfielder, Binghamton
- Went 4-for-9 (.444) leading Binghamton to a series sweep of UMBC over the weekend.
- Had a homer and double in the series.
- Led Binghamton to a 9-6 win in game 2 vs. UMBC, going 2-for-3 with a homer, an RBI and two runs scored.
Around the League
- Stony Brook (15-13, 7-1 AE) swept its series from Hartford (6-17, 1-5 AE) behind America East Player of the Week Bria Green’s performance.
- Binghamton (12-10, 3-0 AE) finally got back to action after a 16-day layoff and has won five in a row, including a three-game sweep of UMBC (22-14, 0-5 AE).
- Albany (13-8, 3-3 AE) took two of three games from Maine (13-11, 5-3 AE).
- Binghamton and Albany will play a doubleheader Tuesday, a makeup of their series originally scheduled for March 29-30.
- This weekend UMBC visits Maine, UMass Lowell hosts Stony Brook and Hartford entertains Albany.
