Bulls Sweep American Athletic Conference Award Honors

TAMPA, MARCH 3, 2014
– The Bulls swept the American Athletic Conference weekly honors this week as Sara Nevins was named Pitcher of the Week and Kourtney Salvarola was honored as the conference’s Player of the Week.

For Nevins, it was her third consecutive time being named Pitcher of the Week. The senior lefty gave up only one run in 16.2 innings, going 3-0 with a 0.42 ERA and 23 strikeouts at the USF Under Armour Invitational. She has now won eight straight games after starting the season 0-2 and leads the American in ERA (1.27), wins (8) and strikeouts (77).

Also representing the Bulls in the weekly awards was shortstop Kourtney Salvarola, who was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the first time this season.

The senior from Arnold, Md., helped lead the team to a 6-0 record at the Under Armour Invitational, where the Bulls outscored their six opponents by a combined score of 47-5. She led the team with eight runs, nine hits, two home runs and six runs batted in.

Salvarola also ranks among the top three in the American in the following offensive categories: second in runs (16), tied for second in hits (18) & home runs (4) and third in RBI (13).
