FPN 16U Super 60 Rankings: No. 26 through No. 30 Breakdown

NO. 26 / WICHITA MUSTANGS 16U

The Mustangs completed its third season at the 16U level and are known for its offensive power and speed.

“It is a very talented group and we decided to play 16U instead of 14U a few years ago to gain experience,” said coach, Keith Eck. “While from a win lost standpoint (someone) may not think it was right decision but from a development standpoint the girls have benefited dramatically and we are starting to see the payoff.”

The decision to play up over time has developed a mature, battle-tested, close knit roster of experienced student-athletes who compiled an impressive list of finishes in 2018: 9th at IDT in Colorado, 9th at USA Elite Select, and made an appearance in the JO Cup.

New to the roster for 2018-2019 will be the addition of 2021, Ashley Archuletta. She is a true utility player out of New Mexico who will hit for power or speed from the left side.

Key Players:

  • Ellee Eck (2020 CF/SS/3B) Wichita State – “Ellee hits from left side as she used to be a slapper. Now hits for power but still possesses speed to be a slapper. She mainly plays center field for us but will play short and 3rd as well. “
  • Sophia Buzard (2020, OF) KU – “Hits from left side for power but can beat you with speed as well.”
  • Tatum Long (2020) Uncommitted – “Long is our pure power hitter. She is out of Oklahoma and stayed up in Wichita last summer to workout with us. She is receiving a lot of interest from D1 schools as she is now becoming a consistent (homerun) threat at the plate”

Outstanding skilled infielders with big bats (Lexie D’Alexander, Jenna Kroll, Delaney Robeson, Maddie Springer). Avrey Wolverton brings big power at the first base position and also gets in done in the circle. Rachel Everett and MacKenzie Cleland round out the outstanding pitching staff. This team puts a ton of pressure on a defense with the overall team speed and the way they swing the bat. Pitching is very solid. Lots of strikes with a great defense behind them.   Fun team to watch that is loaded with athletes and college prospects.”
