NO. 31 / BANDITS NC

Bandits NC is a smaller program on the rise across all age levels. “We had a break out summer to say the least for our program, ” said coach and program Director, Gary Simpson. “Lead by only a couple of Power 5 players 2019 Hannah Goodwin (Clemson) and 2018 Taylor Watford (Ole Miss) the team was made up mostly of mid-major DI and a few DII players.”

The Bandits summer was highlighted by a strong performance at Triple Crown Nationals, finishing 9th.

“Getting accepted into the TC/USA Nationals down in GA this summer was the start. We knew that our work was cut out for us but everyone worked hard preparing. We finished up that event with a 9th place finish and carried that momentum into the USA “A” Nationals in Salem, VA. Shorthanded on pitchers headed to VA we knew that it would be a tough go. The team ended up battling all the way to a 7th place finish which was a huge achievement considering we only had two in the circle. Our hitting and defense were spot on and our two pitchers were outstanding.”

This fall the Bandits have “amped up” its pitching staff and added some big bats. 2019 pitchers Savannah Brown and Kasey Widmyer (Syracuse, USC Upstate) compliment an already strong staff. “To start off the fall season this pitching staff threw five shutout games! They continued that momentum with the Diamond Classic Fall (5-2) and at the Diamond 9 going 3-2-1 in the top pools at the ESPN Sports Complex,” said Simpson.

Simpson’s team returns a strong core of student-athletes across a few graduation years, couple that with new faces and another year of experience it will be fun to watch the Bandits in 2019.

“Our staff and players are super excited for the summer 2019 season, to see if we can again make major accomplishments for our Bandits NC Organization.”

NO. 34 / GAMETIME STARS 18U

A strong summer of play was capped by a 7th place finish at the JO Cup. Big changes came for this team at the end of the summer and Gametime Co-Owner, Amy Carwile, is excited about the future of this team. “This team has now merged with its older 18U team with the older 16U team to form one 18U Gold team.  This year’s team we expect to be a high powered offense with a combination of speed and power.  We expect this team to be one of the better teams that Gametime Stars have produced. The team will have outstanding pitching that has velocity and can move the ball.  Middle infield will be anchored with three DI commits, corners anchored with speed and solid gloves, and we expect our outfield to be one of the best out there.  They are extremely fast and with strong arms. Zadie LaValley (Tulsa Commit) will be our featured catcher and has one of the strongest arms and quickest pop times of anyone. Offensively we will send nine girls to the plate that have the potential to go yard at any time. On the bases, we will be extremely fast and we intend on putting a lot of pressure on the defenses this year with our speed.

This team has combined the coaching staff of the one teams and will feature Wes Williams, Michelle Petty, Mike Spain, and Kevin Carwile.  These four brings many years of experience to this team. We all feel that this team has the potential to be one of the premier teams of the 2019 season.”

Key Players:

  • Zadie LaValley (2020, C) Tulsa
  • Karli Petty (2019, SS) OSU
