Courtney Deifel Signs Extension at Arkansas Through 2023

Courtney Deifel will be sticking around as the head coach at Arkansas for a while longer as she agreed to a contract extension that will keep her in Fayetteville through the 2023 season.

Deifel had turned around an Arkansas program that was last in the SEC when she took over the program in 2016. This year they made it to a Super Regional after Arkansas went 42-17 this season. Deifel led Arkansas to the NCAA Tournament the last two seasons.

Deifel’s name was floated as a candidate at some significant job openings this past off-season including Texas and Oregon.

The contract extension is a five-year pact, according to Arkansas press release which includes a pair of one-year options that give the deal a maximum length of seven years.  Deifel was one of six Arkansas head coaches to receive new contracts, a group that also includes baseball coach Dave Van Horn.

Before Arkansas, Deifel was an assistant coach and staff member at Oklahoma, Maryland, and Louisville. She spent a single season as the head coach at Maryland in 2015 before taking over the Razorbacks program.
