University of Minnesota head softball coach Jessica Allister announced Monday the addition of two players.
Pitcher Tori Finucane will transfer from Missouri and infielder Allie Arneson will transfer from Virginia for the upcoming season.
Finucane, a native of Germantown, M.D., will have one year left of eligibility while Arneson, Aledo, Texas native will have three.
“We are thrilled to announce the addition of Tori and Allie to our softball family,” Allister said. “They bring with them a wealth of experience at the collegiate level. We are excited to get them into Gopher jerseys and onto the field with our team this fall.”
Finucane was dominant in the circle in her first two seasons with the Tigers. The right handed pitcher was named the 2014 SEC Freshman of the Year throwing a 1.73 ERA with a 21-6 record in 190.1 innings pitched. She was also named a top-10 finalist for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year and earned First Team All-SEC honors that season.
In her sophomore season Finucane posted another strong season as the Tigers’ ace, finishing with a 21-8 record, 3.03 ERA and 140 strikeouts in 155.0 innings pitched. She earned Second Team All-SEC honors. This past season she was limited to 37.2 innings of work due to injuries.
Arneson had a strong freshman season for the Cavaliers starting 43 games at shortstop. She hit .268 scoring 27 runs while recording 15 RBI. She led the team in walks (26) and triples (3). She hit six doubles, five home runs, had eight multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI games.
This fall Finucane and Arneson will join newcomers Carlie Brandt, Amber Fiser, Kendal Judge, Katie Kemmetmueller, Kaylen Krueger, Kendyl Lindaman and MaKenna Partain.
