FPN NCAA DI Softball Players of the Week 3-28-2017

Fastpitch News has released its March 28, 2017, NCAA DI Players of the week awards. All nominations will be considered and are due each Monday by 3:00 pm eastern time. Please submit to rankings@fastpitchnews.com for review.

Sashel Palacios

Arizona State
Palacios put on an impressive display of power this past week. She helped the Sun Devils win all four games. On the week she batted .583 going 7-for-12. In the four games, she hit five home runs with 11 RBI. The senior catcher from Chula Vista, CA now has seven homers on the season with 28 RBI.

Lilli Piper (Ohio State): Piper, hit .727 (8-for-11) last weekend as Ohio State swept Maryland in a three-game conference-opening series in College Park. Piper hit two home runs – including a grand slam on Sunday – and drove in eight runs on the weekend.

DJ Sanders (LLU): Sanders has been seeing the ball well all season. This past week was no exception. Sanders batted .545 going 6-for-11 with two home runs, seven RBI, two doubles and two home runs.

Megan Betsa

Michigan
Megan Betsa threw 15 shutout innings en route to a pair of wins and a save for the Wolverines last week. She earned back-to-back complete-game shutouts against Penn State, extending her streak to four shutouts in her last four starts. Betsa ended the series with a five-inning, nine-strikeout no-hitter — her second no-hitter in nine days. She boasted 29 strikeouts and allowed just three hits through 15 innings. This is her second straight award.

Jessica Burroughs (Florida State): Burroughs also makes her second straight appearance here after going 2-0 this past week. Burroughs recorded the fourth no-hitter of her career against Virginia. On the week she appeared in three games and threw 12 innings amassing 21 strikeouts.

Shannon Saile (FIU): Saile tossed a pair of three-hit shutouts as FIU swept a three-game series at Middle Tennessee. The freshman continued to dazzle and extended her streak to 32.1 innings without giving up an earned run across eight games. Over the weekend, Saile struck out 14 batters in 14 innings, pushing her season total to 131.
