WASHINGTON – George Washington head softball coach Stacey Schramm announced today that former Purdue standout Lauren Grant will join the Colonials’ staff as an assistant coach. She will work primarily with the Colonials’ pitchers.

“We’re excited to welcome Lauren to the GW Softball family,” said Coach Schramm. “Her enthusiasm is contagious, which fits in perfectly with our players. Her experience at Purdue will also provide a solid example for the team, as she was asked to change her role a number of times throughout her career. Her team-first mentality is exactly in line with our team’s culture.”

A versatile utility player, Grant played four years at Purdue University from 2011-14, seeing starts at first base, designated player and pitcher and earning All-Big East Third Team honors as a freshman in 2011. During her senior season, Grant tossed 16.2 innings with 11 strikeouts, posting a 2.94 ERA and holding opponents to a .242 batting average. During her four years, Purdue racked up 111 wins.

Grant also served as a student representative to the Boilermaker Athletic Council and earned a certificate from the John Wooden Leadership Institute.

“I am happy to have been given such a great opportunity,” said Grant. “I’m really excited to be a part of this staff, and I can’t wait to get started.”

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Grant graduated from Purdue in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and supervision.
