For leading the top-ranked Gators to five wins at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic, junior Lauren Haeger was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, announced Monday (March 3) by the conference office. The award marks Haeger’s third SEC weekly honor to begin the 2014 season, following her Pitcher of the Week selection for Week 1 and her Player of the Week award for Week 2.

The third-year Gator batted .412 (7×17) with four home runs, seven runs scored and 11 RBI in UF’s wins over No. 4 Oregon, Fordham, Ohio State, Maryland and Radford. Haeger tied her career high with two home runs in Saturday’s win over the Buckeyes. In the circle, the Peoria, Ariz., native earned the win against OSU when she allowed one run on three hits over five innings with one strikeout.

On the season, Haeger is hitting .373 (25×67) with nine home runs, 29 RBI and 19 runs scored. The junior leads the Gators in home runs, RBI and slugging (.806) and ranks third in hitting and runs.

Haeger and the Gators return to the field Tuesday (March 4), when they host Boston College at 6 p.m. EST at Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium. Radio coverage can be found on WGGG (1230-AM), and fans can find live stats through Gametracker on the schedule page on GatorZone.com.
