Harbaugh, Cukrov, Holte Earn American East Accolades

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three players who led their respective team to a sweep in America East softball action over the weekend are the conference’s weekly award winners for the ninth week of the season. Binghamton’s Sydney Harbaugh earned Player of the Week recognition while Allison Cukrov earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the second-straight week and UMBC’s Jessica Holte was Rookie of the Week. Player of the Week
Sydney Harbaugh, So., Outfielder, Binghamton

  • In eight games last week, Harbaugh his .640 (16-for-25) with four doubles, a triple and a home run.
  • Had six multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit contests.
  • Also walked three times and was hit three times and reached base 22 times in 32 plate appearances, good for a .688 on-base percentage.
  • Scored 10 runs and drove in 10.
  • Stole seven bases in nine attempts.

Pitcher of the Week
Allison Cukrov, Sr., Pitcher, Stony Brook

  • Went 3-0 and earned a save while registering a with a 0.59 ERA, surrendering just two runs over 23 2/3 innings last week.
  • Allowed just 12 hits while walking three and struck out 24.
  • Picked up wins in two of Stony Brook’s victories over Maine, winning both ends of Saturday’s doubleheader firing a four-hit shutout in the opener and allowing just one run on two hits in the nightcap.
  • Has won 14-straight decisions.
  • The award is her third of the season.

Rookie of the Week
Jessica Holte, Fr., Pitcher, UMBC

  • Registered a 1.38 ERA and earned wins in two of UMBC victories over UMass Lowell.
  • Allowed just eight hits, walked three and struck out 12.
  • In her best game of the week, Holte allowed just one earned run on four hits in a complete-game effort Saturday.
  • The award is her second of the year to go with a pair of Pitcher of the Week honors.

Around the League

  • Binghamton, UMBC and Stony Brook all swept series last week. Recap
  • Stony Brook pitched its way to a three-game sweep of Maine, allowing just one run in the series and extended its win streak to 10 games.
  • The first-place Seawolves improved to 13-1 in America East play and became the first team to clinch a spot in the four-team conference tournament.
  • Stony Brook holds a 3 1/2 game lead on second-place Albany with two weeks to play.
  • UMBC extended its win streak to four games, outscoring UMass Lowell, 23-9 over three games en route to a sweep.
  • Binghamton outscored Hartford, 27-11, en route to a three-game sweep of the Hawks.
  • The Bearcats lead the league hitting .294 has a team while the Seawolves have a team-best 2.85 team ERA.
  • This weekend Maine hosts Binghamton, UMass Lowell visits Albany and Hartford entertains UMBC.
