LSU Softball Notches Three Wins at Fall Tournament

BATON ROUGE – The LSU softball team continued its fall season and picked up three wins over the weekend at Tiger Park.

The Tigers secured a pair of shutout victories over Lamar (7-0) and Nicholls State (8-0) on Saturday. Baylee Corbello tossed a one-hit shutout fueled by six strikeouts versus one walk over her five innings of work against the Colonels. LSU’s offense capped the five-inning win with a four-run frame. Dylan Supak collected a two-run single, while Corbello added another RBI-single.

In the circle versus Lamar, Kelsee Selman, Bianka Bell and Ashley Czechner teamed up for 10 strikeouts and surrendered only one hit apiece. Bell and Czechner racked up a combined five Ks over their two innings of relief.

Offensively, Bell notched a 2-for-4 performance with three RBIs, two of which came on a double during the seventh inning. At the top of the batting order, Bailey Landry and Simone Heyward scored two runs apiece. The Tigers also received a two-run single from Alex Boulet during a four-run fourth inning against the Cardinals.

LSU put together a seven-run first inning to highlight an 8-3 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday. A.J. Andrews was 3-for-3 and slapped a two-run single to compete the seven-run inning. Bianka Bell, Kailey McCasland, Haley Smith and Dylan Supak also tallied RBIs for the Tigers.

LSU will complete its fall season with a single game versus LSU-Eunice on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 12 p.m. followed by a doubleheader against McNeese State on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. Admission is free to all fall games at Tiger Park.

At this time, LSU is accepting season ticket renewals and $25 deposits for new season ticket holders at www.LSUtix.net for the 2014 season. The deadline for season ticket renewals and deposits is Thursday, Oct. 31. Information on single-game tickets will be distributed at a later date by the LSU Ticket Office.
