ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Senior Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week announced by the league office Monday afternoon after helping Bradley to a 3-1 record at the Hilltopper Spring Fling in Bowling Green, Ky.
She earned MVC Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career, after hitting .444 with a triple, home run, four runs scored and four RBI in addition to posting a 2-0 record with a 2.93 ERA in three appearances in the circle.
Lynch-Crumrine, who has been named MVC Pitcher of the Week twice in her career, opened the weekend with one of the strongest all-around performances of her career.
Belmont capitalized on two Bradley errors to score four unearned runs as the Bruins jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Lynch-Crumrine sparked a rally. She held Belmont hitless for the final five frames and also went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs, four RBI, a triple and home run to highlight an 8-7 comeback. Lynch-Crumrine had a RBI single in the third and led off the fifth with a triple before belting a go-ahead, three-run homer in the sixth. She also earned the complete game victory against the Bruins.
In Saturday’s 17-0 romp over Canisius, Lynch-Crumrine drew a walk and scored a run. She was 1-for-3 with a run and a walk in a 7-3 win over Miami (Ohio) Sunday, earning another complete game victory. Lynch-Crumrine moved into sixth in school history with her 32nd career victory and limited batters to a .246 batting average in three appearances over the weekend.
The Bradley softball team will play at the Citrus Classic in Orlando, Fla., this weekend, opening tournament play Friday with a 12:15 p.m. (CST) game against Ohio State.
