Less than a week after the Tigers season ended. Missouri Athletic Director Jim Sterk found the next Head Coach of the Tigers as Missouri hired former Hofstra’s Head Coach Larissa Anderson. The hiring was announced on Saturday.

The contract is for five-years at $185,000 per year according to PowerMizzou.com’s Gabe DeArmound.

“I am very proud and honored to be the next head softball coach at Mizzou,” Anderson said in Missouri press release. “I want to thank Gina (Fogue) and her staff for their loyalty and dedication to Mizzou Softball. Our future is very bright and I’m ready to get to work to start a new era of Mizzou Softball.”

Anderson leaves Hofstra after 17 seasons with the last four as Head Coach after taking over for Hall of Fame Head Coach Bill Edwards. Anderson was an assistant coach under Edwards for 13 seasons.

Anderson gave a statement to  Justin McLeod of Justin’s World  who was first to report Anderson to Missouri, “This has been one of the most emotional days of my life. I’ve spent 20 years being a part of the Hofstra family. I grew up in blue and gold. And to say good-bye to everyone who has been a part of this journey is bittersweet. I’ve had amazing experiences and opportunities while at Hofstra. I can’t thank Hall of Fame coach Bill Edwards enough for taking a chance on me when I was a young kid. This has allowed me to be a part of winning twelve conference championships and competing in twelve NCAA regionals. But none of this would’ve been possible if it wasn’t for Jeff Hathaway to lead this program the last four years. I am so proud of the players who wear the Hofstra uniform. And know they will continue to do great things. I’m excited for this new journey at Mizzou and will always take Hofstra with me wherever I go. I’m proud to have been their coach and will always hold a special place in my heart for The Pride!”

Anderson went 130-73-1 in four seasons as Head Coach winning two CAA Tournament Championships (2015,2018) and two NCAA Tournament appearances (2015,2018). This past season Anderson guided Hofstra to a 41-14 record and a national ranking. The Pride won the CAA Tournament Championship and posted a 1-2 record at the NCAA Tournament.

Anderson’s departure creates a job opening at Hofstra. They have a good roster returning led by a great one-two punch in the circle of Sara Cornell and Sophie Dandola.
