NEC Player of the Week
Kat Malcolm
Outfield, Senior, Branford CT/Mercy

The senior was on fire at the plate, finishing with an impressive line of .458/.500/.833 to lead the Blue Devils to a 5-2 record this past week. Malcolm recorded a hit in all seven games, totaling 11 hits in 24 at-bats, including three triples and two home runs. Malcolm drove in a team-best 10 RBI’s, scored seven runs and swiped two bags. Malcolm also delivered in the clutch for the Blue Devils, blasting a three-run home run in the fourth inning of a tie game to give the Blue Devils the lead and never look back in their 9-5 comeback win against Colgate on Saturday. Malcolm capped of her weekend with a monster game in a 8-0, six inning win over Army on Sunday, going 3-4 with a double,  driving in five, scoring a run, and stealing a base.

NEC Pitcher of the Week
Nicole Sleith, Robert Morris
Pitcher, Senior, Smithton, PA/Yough

Sleith racked up the zeroes on the scoreboard as she went 4-0 with four complete games and three shutouts at the Miami Invitational. Sleith posted a 0.50 ERA for the weekend, allowing only two runs in a 6-3 win over Detroit on Thursday to start the weekend off for the Colonials. Sleith was virtually unhittable as she hurled a two-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. The senior then posted a 3-0 win over Oakland and a 5-0 victory over Detroit on Sunday to make it three shutouts in a row for the first time in her career. Sleith moved her career shutout total to 22 this weekend and also became the first Colonial ever to reach 150 strikeouts in four different seasons. For the weekend, Sleith struck out 32 batters over 28 innings and allowed opponents to hit a minuscule .137 against her.

NEC Rookie of the Week
Brittany Camara, Central Connecticut
Infield, Freshman, Merrimack, NH/Merrimack

Camara finished the week 8-for-25, good for a .320 average over seven games for the Blue Devils. The Merrimack, NH native also scored seven runs and swiped two bases. The freshman reached base safely in six games and recorded two multi-hit games. Camara’s best performance of the week came in the second game of a doubleheader against Hartford on Tuesday as she went 2-4 with two runs scored.
