UCF named Cindy Ball the second Head Coach in program history on Wednesday, the story which was first reported by Black and Gold Banneret. Ball comes from Boise State where she spent four seasons as the Head Coach leading the Broncos to the NCAA Tournament in 2018 as the Broncos set programs records for most wins for a season (40) and winning the first conference title in program history defeating New Mexico in the Mountain West championship.

Ball was the second head coach in Boise State history and now becomes the second head coach in UCF history following Renee Luers Gillispie who left UCF to become the Head Coach at Iowa on June 8.

Before Boise State, Ball was an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge and Washington (2011-2012) where she coached under Heather Tarr.

“Cindy Ball is one of the best coaches in the country.  Huskies Head Coach Heather Tarr told Fastpitch News about the Ball Hire. “What she accomplished as a student-athlete, as an assistant coach, and as a head coach at Cosumnes River and at Boise State all speak for themselves. I’m excited to see her move her career to another level as she helps to build on the foundation at UCF”.

Ball played college softball at Pacific (1999-2002) where she was a two-way player and was twice named an NFCA All-American (2001-02) and Big West Pitcher of the Year (2001-02). During her time the Tigers made three NCAA Tournament appearances (1999, 2001-2002).  Tarr was an assistant coach at Pacific during Ball playing career.
