PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Senior Destinee Martinez matched a career high with three RBI as the Sooners (10-5) finished play at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Saturday with a 6-2 victory over Syracuse (4-4).

One day after setting her career high with three runs driven in against Northwestern, Martinez used a two-run double in the first inning and an RBI groundout in the third to pace the OU offense against the Orange.

Junior Shelby Pendley also had a multiple-RBI game as she delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to give the Sooners breathing room.

Sophomore Kelsey Stevens got the win to move her record to 7-3 on the season. She struck out five over 6.1 innings and allowed two runs on three hits with four walks.

Oklahoma returns to action this weekend with its home opener against No. 11/12 Nebraska. Saturday’s doubleheader against the Cornhuskers starts at 2 p.m. CT. OU then hosts Arkansas Pine-Bluff in a doubleheader that begins at noon CT on Sunday.
