Pacific Softball Picks Up Recruits For 2015

Stockton, Calif.- Pacific Softball has taken advantage of the early signing period as Coach Brian Kolze announced on Sunday that Pacific has received commitments from Sydney Lahners (Laguna Hills, Calif.), Molly Bourne (La Habra, Calif.), Rachel Sellers (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and Marissa Young (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.)

Kolze said of the incoming recruiting class. “We are extremely excited about these four prospects. Rachel, Molly and Syd will be tremendous additions defensively and will add excitement to our offense and Marissa will be a great addition to our pitching staff.”

Joining the Tigers’ in 2014 as a first baseman, Lahners led the Laguna Hills Hawks with a .471 batting average and 31 RBI during the 2013 campaign. She was named All-League in the South Coast League in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and was named first team All-Orange County by OCVarsity.com in 2013. Lahners was named the 39th overall senior softball player in the country by StudentSports.com

Sellers, a catcher from Los Alamitos High School, hit .389 with 35 RBI and 7 home runs for the Griffins. For her efforts, she was named to the All-Area Softball Team by the Long Beach Press Telegram and All-Orange County by OCVarsity.com Additionally, she was listed as the 51st overall softball player nationwide by StudentSports.com

Bourne, a utility player from La Serna High School in Whittier, Calif, led the Lancers to a first place finish in the Del Rio League in 2013 with a .416 batting average and 39 RBI. She was named Whittier Daily News player of the year for 2013 to go along with back to back first team All- Del Rio League selections in 2012 and 2013.

Young will come to the Tigers from Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. The pitcher and outfielder excelled from the circle in 2013. She posted a 16-3 record with a 1.65 ERA in 2013, as the Grizzlies won the Baseline League Championship. She had 74 strikeouts in 114.2 innings pitched for Los Osos. Young received first team All-Baseline League honors in 2013 and was named to First Team All-Inland Empire by the Inland Vally Daily Bulletin following the season.
