COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.
– Boise State sophomore Ashley Palmer was named Mountain West Player of the Week for the week of March 18-24, the conference announced Tuesday. Palmer was 5-for-10 with two home runs and five runs batted to lead the Broncos to a series win against Fresno State over the weekend.

This is the first weekly award in Palmer’s career. It is the first of the season for Boise State and she is the first Bronco to earn the MW’s weekly offensive honor since Tara Glover did so three times in 2012.

Palmer was 2-for-4 with a walk in the series opener, Friday. She put the Broncos on the board with a leadoff home run in the fourth inning and later singled in the 10th, moving the eventual winning run into scoring position as the Broncos won 3-2.

In the finale, Palmer was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. All three of her runs driven in came with two outs, including a two-run blast in the bottom of the first inning to give the Broncos an early cushion. The Peoria, Ariz., native also singled in a run during Broncos’ loss Saturday.

Both of Palmer’s home runs came against Fresno State’s Jill Compton who had surrendered just four long balls in more than 90 innings of work entering the weekend.

Palmer slugged 1.100 for the weekend and reached base at a .545 clip. She now has five home runs and 26 runs driven in in 29 starts this season, while hitting .380 with 30 base hits. She also started 29 games last season as a freshman when she hit .212 with three home runs and nine RBI on 18 hits.
