Sharonda McDonald Named New Head Coach at Campbell

Sharonda McDonald was named the new Head Coach at Campbell on Tuesday. McDonald spent this past season as an assistant coach at Ohio State after spending the previous couple of seasons at Florida.

” I am so grateful for this opportunity to join Campbell and the Big South Conference,” McDonald said in a Campbell press release. “In making this decision, I was so impressed with the overall culture of the university and the leadership of the athletic department. I want to thank Bob Roller and the administration for the faith they have in me to head the softball program.”

McDonald had a legendary playing career with Texas A&M from 04-07 and helped lead the Aggies to the Women’s College World Series in 2007. McDonald also played in the NPF  for eight seasons winning the NPF Championship in 2014 with the USSSA Pride.

McDonald has had coaching stops at Texas Southern (2009), Ohio (2010-2012), LSU (2013-2014),  and Texas Tech (2015) before going to Florida (2016-2017) where she was part of the Gators Women’s College World Series appearance in 2017. In 2018 McDonald helped the Buckeyes get to a regional final.

McDonald spent the 2017 summer as the Head Coach of the Chicago Bandits where McDonald led the Bandits to the NPF Championship series.

McDonald replaces Todd Bradley who spent four seasons as Head Coach at Campbell and finished 29-27 in 2018 with a 12-9 record in the Big South Conference.
