ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois outfielder Tierney Bottino was named Summit League Player of the Week while North Dakota State’s Jacquelyn Sertic and WIU’s Emily Ira garnered the league’s Pitcher of the Week award for their performances during the week of Feb. 29-March 6.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TIERNEY BOTTINO, WESTERN ILLINOIS
Sr.  // OF // Lockport, Ill.

  • Named Summit League Player of the Week for the first time in her career
  • Helped Western Illinois to a 3-1 record at the Miami (Ohio) Tournament
  • Produced a walk-off double in 2-1 victory over Canisius, following that up with a walk-off single later that day vs. Miami (Ohio)
  • Hit a three-run home run and drove in six runs on the weekend
  • For the week hit .357 with a .357 on-baes percentage and slugged .643

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
JACQUELYN SERTIC, NORTH DAKOTA STATE
So. // RHP // Sparks, Nev.

  • Earned her second straight Summit League Pitcher of the Week award and third this season
  • Pitched three complete games, picking up three wins, including a 2-1 victory over No. 2 Alabama
  • Against the Crimson Tide, she pitched all seven innings, allowing only four hits and one run
  • The following day, she pitched her first career no-hitter while striking out four and only walking one
  • Over the week, she was 3-0 with 16 strikeouts in 20.2 innings pitched and a 1.02 ERA

EMILY IRA, WESTERN ILLINOIS
Fr. // RHP // Iowa City, Iowa

  • Earned her first career Summit League Pitcher of the Week award
  • Pitched Western Illinois’ first no-hitter since 2010 in 8-0 win over Canisius
  • Added another complete game, giving up only two hits and one run in 2-1 win over Miami (Ohio)
  • For the Week, compiled a 2-0 record while allowing only two hits in 12.0 innings pitched with 16 strikeouts and a 0.58 ERA
