KENNESAW, Ga. – After leading the Kennesaw State softball team in the Owls’ opening weekend of the play, sophomore Courtney Sutter was named to the Troy Subway Invitational All-Tournament Team.
“Courtney had a great weekend for herself,” said head coach Wes Holly, Jr. “She stepped up big and came through a few times when we needed it. I am glad for her as this is her first honor as a KSU player.”
Sutter started all four games for the Owls, posting a .308 batting average with a team-leading seven RBI and three doubles. The Marietta, Ga., native had a breakout performance in KSU’s season-opening 14-12 win over Middle Tennessee as she delivered the game-winning three-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Owls. Against the Tigers, Sutter went 3-of-5 with seven RBI, two doubles and the first home run for KSU in 2014.
The Owls next return home to host the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex in Woodstock, Ga., on Feb. 14-16.
