ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico softball squad will host six fall ball games at home over the next couple weeks starting with a pair of doubleheaders Sept. 28-29.

The Lobos host Yavapi Community College on Saturday, Sept. 28 with the first game of the doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. MT, and the second slated to begin around 1 p.m. MT.

Western New Mexico comes to Lobo Field on Sunday, Sept. 29 for a doubleheader, with game times of 11 a.m. MT and 1 p.m. MT.

New Mexico closes its fall season on Saturday, Oct. 12 with a doubleheader against El Paso Community College. The first game begins as 1 p.m. MT and the second is scheduled for 3 p.m. MT.

Fourth-year head coach is hoping to use the six contests as a measuring stick for the Lobos who return 11 letterwinners from last year’s team that went 21-35 overall and 3-15 in Mountain West play. New Mexico welcomes eight new student-athletes, five freshman and three transfers.

“Fall games are a great chance to see where we stand personnel wise, see how our athletes start settling into positions,” Beach said. “There are a lot of new faces and a lot of unanswered questions. We’re looking forward to seeing the team in action and seeing where we need to improve, what our strengths are and how to get the most out of them before we get into season in February.”
