TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State junior pitcher Lacey Waldrop was named Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is Waldrop’s sixth conference honor of the season and eleventh of her career.

“Lacey is such a competitor and a key part of our program,” said head coach Lonni Alameda But with the way we have been able to swing the bat and play quality defense behind her is what allows her to have this success. It is another team award as this family plays for each other every game.”

Waldrop shut down opponents in a variety of ways in the circle last week as she posted her third no-hitter of 2014 on her way to a 3-0 week against Florida A&M and at North Carolina.

The Chester, Va., native tossed 16.1 innings over the three games and allowed only five hits, one run and five walks while posting 25 strikeouts. She allowed opponents to bat only .094 against her for the week.

The junior faced only 20 batters in 6.0 innings and recorded 14 strikeouts at home as she no-hit the FAMU Rattlers on March 26. She started game one at North Carolina and allowed two walks in the first inning but settled in and retired 19 of the final 21 batters with four strikeouts as Florida State won 6-0.

She entered game two of the doubleheader in relief – her first relief appearance of 2014 – and struck out five of the first seven batters she faced. She recorded seven total strikeouts in 3.1 innings in game two and allowed just two hits and one run to get the win and improve her record to 21-2 and give her an ERA of 0.56.

The Seminoles will wrap up the series with the Tar Heels on Mon., March 31 with a nationally televised game to air on ESPNU with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Adam Amin and Amanda Scarborough will be on the call.
