TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State junior pitcher Lacey Waldrop was named Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is Waldrop’s second conference honor of the season.

Waldrop has continued to be dominant in the circle for Florida State. In two games this past week, the junior stymied opponents by throwing 13.0 innings and allowing only eight hits, three runs (one earned) and three walks while posting 24 strikeouts.

Against UCF on February 19, Waldrop fanned a season-high 14 batters, including a stretch of five in a row and seven of the final 11 batters she faced. She followed that up with a complete game, 10 strikeout and zero walk performance against UC Santa Barbara, which marked the third straight game that Waldrop had recorded 10 or more strikeouts in a game. Her outings lowered her overall ERA to 0.57 and batters are hitting only .183 against her on the season.

Next up for the No. 10 Seminoles will be a road trip to the state of Alabama starting with a game at Auburn on Wed., Feb. 26. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The ‘Noles will continue on for a tournament on Feb. 28-March 2 hosted by Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Houston and Purdue will join the Crimson Tide for the three day tournament.
