Inside the Numbers: Interesting Stats from the 2016 NCAA Softball Season

As we continue to look at the 2016 NCAA Softball Season we found some interesting facts that you may not be aware of. Below you will find a list of things that we found interesting.

  • Most home runs in one game: Marist belted nine of them in a 22-1 win over St. Peter’s. Eight different players contributed.
  • Most double plays turned in one game: Coppin State turned five of them against Hampton.
  • Most errors in a game: FGCU committed 10 of them in a single game against Iowa State.
  • Most hits in a single game: San Diego State posted 28 hits against New Mexico.
  • Most runs scored in a game: LSU hung 30 on Louisiana Tech.
  • Most Stolen bases in a single game: Southeastern La. nabbed 13 of them in a game against Northwestern State.
  • Most strikeouts by a team in one game: Eastern Illinois striking out 24 times against Eastern Kentucky. Oh but wait, Eastern Kentucky struck out 22 times in the same game.
  • Most hits by a single player in one game: Samantha Camello (San Diego State) had six in a game against New Mexico.
  • Most home runs by a single player in one game: Carli Kayler (Troy) sent four balls over the fence in a game versus Appalachian State.
  • Most RBI in a game by a single player: Five players tied with nine in one game. That would be Lindsey Willmon (Fresno State), Carli Kayler (Troy), Hannah Day (Troy), Bianka Bell (LSU) and Kellsi Kloss (LSU).
  • Top five toughest schedules in order: Washington, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma State.
