Akron Racers defeats Chicago Bandits 8-4

Nerissa Myers went 1-2 and hit a home run, helping Akron Racers to an 8-4 victory over Chicago Bandits on Sunday at Rosemont, IL.

She homered in the third inning.

Hannah Campbell recorded the win for Akron Racers. She allowed two runs over 2 1/3 innings. Hannah struck out three, walked one and gave up four hits.

Ellen Renfroe couldn’t get it done in the circle for Chicago Bandits, taking a loss. She lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed three runs.

The top of the first saw Akron Racers take an early lead, 1-0. A solo home run by Taylor Schlopy started the inning off.

Chicago Bandits quickly matched Akron Racers’ strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the first. Chicago Bandits scored on an RBI single by Tammy Williams.

Akron Racers stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring one run on an error.

Akron Racers piled on three more runs in the top of the sixth. The inning looked promising, as Jill Barrett doubled, plating Ashley Thomas to kick things off.

A two-run sixth inning helped bring Chicago Bandits within five. An RBI single by Alisa Goler and a sacrifice fly by RT Cantillo triggered Chicago Bandits’ comeback. Emily Allard to end the Chicago Bandits threat.

Chicago Bandits scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to cut its deficit to four. A groundout by Kristen Butler fueled Chicago Bandits’ comeback. Finally, Alison Owen got Cheyenne Coyle to strike out to end the game.
