Chicago Bandits defeats Akron Racers after late game double, 8-3

Chicago Bandits and Akron Racers traded the lead five times on Saturday, but Chicago Bandits ended up on top with an 8-3 win in seven innings over Akron Racers.

Chicago Bandits took the lead in the third inning and held on for the victory. Chicago Bandits scored on an RBI double by Tammy Williams off Rachele Fico, bringing home Emily Allard.

Tammy racked up two RBIs on two hits for Chicago Bandits.

Michelle Gascoigne had an impressive outing against Akron Racers’ lineup. Akron Racers managed just three hits off of Gascoigne, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during her three innings of work.

Akron Racers was led by Jill Barrett‘s hitting. Jill went 3-4 and scored one run. She singled in the third, fourth, and sixth innings.

Sara Moulton got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed three runs over four innings. Sara struck out six, walked two and gave up six hits.

Rachele ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She allowed eight runs in 5 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out five.

In the top of the first, Akron Racers grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Taylor Schlopystarted the rally for Akron Racers with a single. A stolen base then moved Taylor from first to second. Haley Outon singled, scoring Taylor.

Chicago Bandits scored two runs of its own in the first. Chicago Bandits scored on an RBI single by Tammy and an error.

One Akron Racers run crossed the plate in the top half of the fourth, making the score 4-3. A wild pitch set off Akron Racers rally. Chicago Bandits stopped the rally after Sara got Taylor to strike out.

Chicago Bandits added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth. The inning got off to a hot start when Kirsten Verdun doubled, plating Cheyenne Coyle andNatalie Hernandez. That was followed up by Danielle Zymkowitz‘s single, platingRT Cantillo.
