Chicago Bandits top Akron Racers behind Brittany Cervantes’s 2 hits

An exceptional effort by Brittany Cervantes lifted Chicago Bandits to a 12-1 win in seven innings over Akron Racers on Sunday at Rosemont, IL.

Brittany racked up six RBIs on two hits for Chicago Bandits. She homered in the first and sixth innings.

Nine runs in the opening three innings allowed Chicago Bandits to easily put away Akron Racers. An RBI single by Tammy Williams, an RBI single by Kristen Butler, a three-run home run by Brittany, and an RBI single by Emily Allard in the first inning and a groundout by Alisa Goler during the second inning helped Chicago Bandits put some runs on the board early.

Chicago Bandits hit three home runs in the win. Additional home runs for Chicago Bandits came when Danielle Zymkowitz homered in the third inning and Brittany homered in the first and sixth innings.

Kirsten Verdun brought the heat against Akron Racers during her outing. Akron Racers managed just one hit off of the Chicago Bandits’ pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during her three innings of work.

Sara Moulton got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed one run over four innings. She struck out four, walked two and surrendered two hits.

Hannah Campbell was the game’s losing pitcher. She allowed six runs in zero innings, walked one and struck out none.
