Scrap Yard Dogs Win Series with 8-0 Win Over Chicago Bandits

The Woodlands, Tx – June 23, 2016 –  The Dawgs took on the Chicago Bandits for the final game of the series.

Monica Abbott and Sara Moulton battled it out in the circle for three innings, with both teams remaining scoreless until, the Dawgs scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Emily Crane led it off with a walk and Britt Vonk beat the throw to first to put two Dawgs on base. Emilee Koerner followed with a sac bunt to move the runners in scoring position. Moulton intentionally walked Nerissa Myers to load the bases and bring up Christian Stokes. A passed ball went by Bandits catcher Kellsi Kloss, to score the first run for the Dawgs (0-1). Stokes laid down the second sac bunt of the inning and scored Vonk and then Taylore Fuller had the third sac bunt of the inning to score Myers (0-3).

The rally continued in the fifth inning with Breja’e Washington beating out the throw from second base and Amanda Fama reaching base on a fielder’s choice. Crane followed with a triple to left center to bring in Washington and Fama to put two more runs on the board for the Dawgs (0-5). Morgan Foley entered the circle for the Bandits and a throwing error by Kloss to third base, allowed Crane to score (0-6). The Dawgs bats were on fire and Christian Stokes continued the rally with a triple to right field to bring in two runs (0-8).

The Dawgs defense held the Bandits and Abbott had five strike outs. Sara Driesenga entered in relief for Abbott and finished the game.

The Dawgs took game three against the Bandits. The Scrap Yard Dawgs will face the Dallas Charge in Colorado for a three game series June 28th through June 30th.
