Conroe, TX (August 10, 2016) – After a 7-0 win in last night’s game against the Pennsylvania Rebellion, game two was underway with a 7:30pm start.
The Rebellion earned one hit in the first inning when Stacey Porter hit a ground rule double that took a hop over the fence in right center field, but would be left stranded at second.
Madison Shipman started off the bottom of the first with an RBI single up the middle to score Kiki Stokes, who was on second after her base hit through the 3-4 hole and stolen base (1-0).
In the second, All-American pitcher Monica Abbott gave up just one walk to Kristyn Sandberg, who was later thrown out on the arm of catcher Taylore Fuller. Abbott ended the side with back-to-back strikeouts to Chaley Brickey and Courtney Senas.
K. Stokes smacked one over the head of the Rebellion right fielder to put herself on second base. K. Stokes went 2-for-3 at the plate tonight. Myers stepped into the box and poked one to shortstop Brickey, who could not make a play, putting runners on first and third. A rundown between third and home ended in K. Stokes called out trying to score.
An exciting fourth inning for the Dawgs as Amanda Fama laced an RBI double to the left-center field gap to score Madison Shipman, who was on second with her second hit of the night (2-0).
Christi Orgeron, in the top of the fifth, laid out in right field, robbing Taylah Tsitsikronis of her first potential hit on the night. Rebellion pitcher Dallas Escobedo is given relief in the bottom of the fifth from Emily Weiman. Escobedo ended the night giving up six (6) hits with six (6) strikeouts, and one (1) walk.
Michael Jordan aka Madison Shipman at shortstop got some serious air on a hard line drive off the bat of Olivia Watkins to seal the first out in the top of the sixth. The other two came from groundouts to Nerissa Myers at second and Abbott in the circle.
Fama was 2-for-3 on the night after she crushed a shot to left field, followed by another hit for the Dawgs from Fuller to short center field in the bottom of the sixth. With eight (8) hits on the night, the Dawgs take game two from the Pennsylvania Rebellion in a 2-0 ball game. Monica Abbott earned the win on a shutout, ending the game on two strikeouts and totaling six (6) on the night.
