Gayle Blevins Talks Iowa, Matt Lisle Leaves for Baseball
On this edition of In The Circle, Eric Lopez talks with Hall of Fame Head Coach Gayle Blevins. She shares her thoughts on Iowa’s hire of Renee Luers-Gillispie. Blevins spoke about the key to being successful at Iowa and what Gillispie will do to help Iowa become relevant in the Big Ten and nationally again.
We explore her career that spanned 31 years with stops in Indiana (1980-1987) and Iowa (1988-2010). Blevins talked about who and what influenced her to go into coaching and what she misses from the game since retiring in 2010. She discusses the rivalry between Iowa and Michigan and the importance of programs like Iowa, Michigan, and Northwestern making the Women’s College World Series in helping the growth of the sport,
Eric and Victor then discuss some of the other coaching moves including Matt Lisle leaving South Carolina for a College Baseball assistant coaching job at Missouri. Could we be seeing more college softball coaches bolt for college baseball?
